A downloadable game for Windows

Hi, all!

This is my submission to GMTK 2023. The theme for this year was Reversed Roles.

Summary

8x4x02 is a reversed version of 2048, where instead of merging the numbers, you have to divide them in order to clean the board and win! Due to space complications, the starting number is 64 instead of 2048 (which made the game unwinnable).

I chose 8x4x02 as the name because there couldn't be a better name; resolving that operation results in 64, but it's also 2048's name reversed, and is also ordered in descending order, which is how the game will progress to clear the board. It was fate!

Also, just for extra fun, all colours used in this game are the complementary colours of the original 2048!

How to play

Once a new game begins, a token of value 64 will appear anywhere on the empty board.

Using WASD or the Arrows to divide it in any direction you want. Pressing Up will divide it Upwards, Left will divide it to the Left, etc. Keep in mind that this action always divides all present tokens. Keep dividing the tokens until you clear the board!

Tokens with a value of 2 will disappear instead of dividing.

If no token can be split, you lose! Win by clearing the board!

If you ever reach an unwinnable point, or just feel like resseting, press P to open the Pause Menu, or use the button in the top-right corner.

Credits

All assets and code used in this game were either created by me or default Unity assets, except for the sound effects, which were obtained at freesound.org. All sound authors are credited in the game.

Last but not least; BuscaLaExcusa is the name of my Youtube Channel. I hope to make a video about the making of this game soon ;)

That's all, hope you enjoy my little game!

More easy that I was expecting (26 moves for me), but a great "role reversed" game. Congratz!
